SO how is everyone doing so far this week? It’s been a CRAZY past couple weeks for me, my head is still spinning from all the wonderful bloggy people I’m meeting! I love it!
If you’re a new reader, and haven’t heard of Top Ten Tuesdays, let me tell you that I try to participate every week! It’s so much fun, and the person who started TopTenTues was the very first person I had met and followed when I started my blog!
Amanda is so nice and down to earth! Participating is easy, just fill out a Top Ten of your choice in time for Tuesdays and head to Oh, Amanda to link up with her Top Ten!
This week, I’ve been visiting a lot of blogs for the UBP11! I’ve met new bloggers, parenting bloggers, food bloggers, I feel like I could write a knock off Dr. Suess Book! ‘Old Blogs, New Blogs, Fashion Shoe Blogs!‘
Top 10 Things I’ve Learned since starting a blog
Something I love about blogging is that it’s a learning experience. I’ve learned so much since I’ve started my own blog, and it’s great to meet new people. I wanted to take this opportunity to share some advice and programs pertaining to blogging that you might or might not know.
This was developed to make keeping track of commenting, easier! And it does! Not only can I see & manage who is commenting on my blog, but I can also keep an eye on all the blogs I’ve commented on & see if I’ve gotten any replies.
I’m using their free service but you can pay for an account to get more features!
Oh, and did I mention the comment box is on the top? I don’t know about you but I find it annoying at times to have to scroll all the way to the bottom just to find the comment box.
You can make money online without being scammed. The real ones are hard to find, but that’s another thing I love about blogging. They share what sites have worked and which ones have not.
One way I’ve been making money online is by monetizing my blog. Another way is through MyLikes. I don’t get paid a lot but anything is great right? I get paid per click. I encourage you to check it out and join! It’s a great site and I love that when I “Like” something and share it, they the site is actually legit! I’m not sending my friends and followers to spam sites! MyLikes actually for the most part promotes other websites and blogs!
Don’t forget that it’s not about the money. Blogging should be fun, and you’ll find that you will get more readers when other’s see you’re having fun as well! I can’t tell you how many sites have turned me right off because I’ve got ads popping up everywhere in my face. Not cool.
I may get discouraged if I haven’t heard from you. I’ve tried to engage in conversation through blog, email, & twitter, before and have gotten completely ignored. I understand that some blogs get tons of replies and emails from readers, but if I make more than one attempt to contact and still get overlooked, I’ll probably lose interest in your blog.
I can’t tell you how many blogs I’ve looked at with background music. While it’s very flattering, it stops me from multitasking. lol. When I’m visiting blogs and no one is home, I crank the music up while I read. This past week alone I’ve jumped so many times from sudden music starting from a blog I’ve just clicked on. QUICK! CLOSE THAT BLOG FAST!
While Facebook is great and everything, nothing gets the word out faster than twitter. I love it! It’s like a giant chat room! But it can get really distracting! I usually update through my phone so I don’t get stuck reading tweets for a long time.
From what I hear, blogspark is a great way to get your foot in the door for writing reviews. I’ve been a member, and gotten a couple emails and invitations, but I’ve been extremely busy and haven’t had the time yet. Has anyone used it? How is it?
I saw one blogger mention that they follow by email only, so I made sure to have that option up on my blog. I also give the option to follow via Twitter, GFC, FB Page, & RSS Feed. Giving your readers options will make them more likely to come back.
Make those options easy to find. I can’t stand visiting a new blog, that’s really cool, and I can’t find a contact/follow button. Make it easy to connect.
Most blogs put their contact info at the top right, because that’s where most people look first when visiting a blog.
Check out my recommended page! I have a great respect for the people that have made this page! This means, I love their site, it’s easy to navigate around, and they work super hard at getting to know their readers! I am always changing and updating it, so you might see your site on there sometime!
TinEye is a reverse search engine. With all the people trying to steal information, and taking pictures from people, this is a great way to check and see where the select picture is on the web and how it’s being used.
On that note, let me say that not all people are out there to steal. Take it easy if you come across someone that might have used your picture without permission, or grabbed your text. I have seen bloggers flip their lid when they find out. But in reality, not all bloggers are out there to steal. Send an email first.
Copyright laws and websites can be very confusing, where’s the idiot’s guide please?
Also, if you don’t want people stealing your things, make sure your copyright information is easily found and clear.
I hope you liked my top ten! If you haven’t entered in my amazon card giveaway, check it out, that ends the 8th, and if you’re new here, and haven’t check out my page for the UBP, have a look.
Have a great day everyone!
